One of the closest ports to Jersey with a 300 mooring marina, there are beaches and a fishing port. The two communes of Barneville and Carteret were joined in 1965.  This is one of the Normandy ports used for Channel Island visitors.
Carteret has some excellent hotels and restaurants, two sandy beaches and is alive with activity during the summer months. Do not miss the Barneville open-air market on Saturdays.

Carteret is a port of arrival from which you can easily reach:
- The town of Cherbourg, the "Cité de la Mer" with visit of a former nuclear submarine.
- The Cap de la Hague.
- Tatihou Island.
- Bayeux and its famous tapestry.
- The Landing Beaches main sites.
